Also referred to as lumbago, back pain is a common musculoskeletal condition characterized by discomfort or pain localized between the lower rib margin and the sacrum, with or without radiation to the lower extremities. You may experience, dull, aching, or throbbing sensation, sharp or stabbing, especially with nerve involvement.

2. Neck pain

Neck Pain refers to discomfort in the cervical spine region, which may radiate to the head, shoulders, upper back, or upper extremities depending on the underlying cause. You may experience headaches, dizziness, dull aches, throbbing, sharp or stabbing sensations.

3. Headaches

Headaches can be described by discomfort in the head or upper neck region. The pain can range from mild to severe and may be episodic or chronic. It can involve any part of the head, including the forehead, temples, eyes, or back of the head, and may radiate to the neck or face. You may experience dull, throbbing, sharp, or pressure-like symptoms.

4. Sciatica

Sciatica is a pain syndrome resulting from irritation or compression of one or more lumbosacral nerve roots, most commonly L4, L5, or S1. It is characterized by radicular pain radiating from the lower back or buttock down the posterior or lateral aspect of the leg, often extending below the knee and into the foot. You may experience sharp, shooting, numbness, or burning pain along the sciatic nerve distribution

5. Herniated/Bulging disc In Harrisonburg VA

A herniated/bulging disc occurs when there is displacement of nucleus pulposus material through a defect or tear in the annulus fibrosus, potentially causing mechanical compression and/or chemical irritation of adjacent nerve roots or the spinal cord, this can produce radiculopathy due to nerve root compression, or myelopathy if in the cervical or thoracic spine. You may experience localized low back or neck pain, sciatic pain, weakness or changes in reflexes.

6. Poor posture

Poor posture refers to malalignment of the musculoskeletal system in which the spine and joints are positioned away from their neutral anatomical alignment, leading to abnormal stresses on muscles, ligaments, and joints. Clinical features present as anterior displacement of the head relative to the shoulders, protraction of scapulae due to pectoralis tightness and weak scapular retractors, excessive thoracic kyphosis or lumbar lordosis, pelvic tilt abnormalities (anterior or posterior).

7. Spinal Misalignment

Spinal Misalignment refers to an abnormal deviation of the vertebral column from its normal anatomic alignment, which may occur in the sagittal, coronal, or axial plane. It can be structural (fixed deformity) or functional (postural/compensatory). You may experience Visible asymmetry (e.g., uneven shoulders/hips, abnormal curvature), localized or radiating pain due to muscle strain, disc pathology, nerve compression, altered biomechanics, decreased flexibility, reduced range of motion, gait disturbance, and in severe cases: neurologic deficits (numbness, weakness, radiculopathy, myelopathy).

8. Sports injuries

Sports injuries are acute or chronic injuries sustained during physical activity, exercise, or athletic participation caused by direct impact, sudden force, twisting, overextension, microtrauma from repetitive motions, inadequate recovery, poor biomechanics, muscle imbalance, joint instability, prior injury, poor conditioning, improper equipment, poor playing surface, and inadequate warm-up.
